What advice do you have for potential students considering attending Penn State and EMS?
Get involved! The best part of Penn State is the incredible community on campus. Many student organizations, pet projects, and research opportunities are available to you as a Penn State student. The work I did beyond the classroom was instrumental in helping me understand what kind of work I’d like to do beyond college.
Why did you choose to attend Penn State? Are you glad that you did?
I chose to attend Penn State after talking to some incredible alumni and hearing about the support they received for their interests and entrepreneurial endeavors. I joined EMS specifically because it was one of the most unique, energy-focused undergrad programs at the time and gave me the flexibility to focus on my area of interest—renewables. I am incredibly happy to have attended and been a part of this institution!
Who was your favorite professor or the one who had the most significant impact on you, and why?
It's hard to choose! My classes with Dr. Susan Stewart and Dr. Sarma Pisupati probably had the most significant impact on my technical chops during my time at Penn State. Dr. Stewart’s mentorship through the collegiate wind team directly contributed to my interest and present career in renewable energy development. Dr. Jefferey Brownson was also an important mentor who introduced me to systems thinking and helped shape my socio-ethical understanding of engineering problems.
